SiriusCreations' trip to the USA: 22 August 2008.

Missoula, MT - West Yellowstone, MT

estimated distance: 330miles (531 kilometers)

Today I left with some mist. My first thing to do this morning was to feed my car. So I drove to the nearest gas station. Put my credit card in the slot.... card not readable.... again yes pick up noozle and choose fuel type. All done, but no fuel. Well let's start again, Credit card not read.... So I took my other credit card, pick up noozle and choose type.... again no fuel. Well went inside they said they ran out of regular. Well thank you for not leaving a message on the nozzle....

So drove to the other gas station opposite the first one. Put my card in, not readable, try again.... Oh well my mistake needed to flip my card so the readable strip was on the other side. Lift the noozle and again nothing.... Went inside, they said well it should work now... So started all over again and yes it worked, my car got his food.

In the meantime the mist was gone, so for the rest of the day I had sun with some white clouds, so I could take some nice shots of a little part of the Rocky Mountains. I must say they look euh rocky!

The next image is from Earthquake lake in the Madison River Canyon area.
The Earth convulsed on the night of Aug. 17, 1959, with the strongest quake ever recorded in the northern Rockies.

Along the fault lines, the land dropped as much as 20 feet. At Hebgen Lake, the quake tilted the lake bed, sending tidal waves surging back and forth for at least 12 hours. Water poured over Hebgen Dam, but the dam held.

Downstream, the massive face of a mountainside broke away, causing the largest recorded earthquake-triggered landslide in North America.

You can see on the shore line some dead trees. There are more which you can not see in this pictures. These trees drown because of the water.

I arrived at my hotel in West Yellowstone around 3.00 pm. After checked in, I still had some time to get a glimpse of Yellowstone NP

Tomorrow the whole day to explore Yellowstone NP. So there will be only pictures of that area.
